Oregon State Police fish and wildlife troopers are investigating two cases of wastage involving at least six deer in recent weeks.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service says it’s no longer necessary to come up with a national recovery plan for gray wolves in the western two-thirds of Washington and Oregon and much of the rest of the Lower 48 because the species’ ESA listing “is no longer appropriate” thanks to how successful their recovery has been and will continue to be.

Idaho Fish and Game officials detail a two-year investigation into how an October 2023 traffic stop of four men with five mule deer heads led them to a “larger network of individuals” who were recently convicted and sentenced in a case involving the unlawful killing of nearly three dozen animals, some of which were killed for their heads alone.

Late October and early November 2025 coho, Chinook and steelhead catch stats for the Lower Columbia and select Southwest Washington tributaries.
